If you are working towards the high definition brows of your dreams, now is the perfect time to grow them out! No one will ever know because no one will see you going through the dreaded messy, unruly stage. You can then get your brow artist to work their magic when you return to the salon to give you the perfect brows you have been dreaming of!
If you want to get the full fluffy lamination look, is to spray your Brow Brush with hair spray, holding it a slight distance away so as not to drench it. Comb through your brows, this will keep them in place! You can also use a bar of soap, this is so easy, wet your brow brush, rub it in a clear soap bar and brush this into your brows.
High definition brows can give your face a brand new look. Tending to your brows can make you look more alert, younger and fresher. No matter what your eyebrow situation is, you can have beautiful and well-shaped brows that complement your face.
To start, brush your brows upwards, this will show you your lock down brow growth since your last appointment. Tweeze a few hairs a day rather than doing it all at once, this will help you keep to your natural shape you have created with your brow artist and will avoid the temptation of trying to reshape your brows. It’s a lot easier to tweeze one or two stray hairs every week than too many at the end of the month. Below we have an overview of the basics, including where to start, how to find your best eyebrow shape, plucking, trimming and waxing.
Finding Your Natural Shape:
Again, your shape should already be there so try not to ‘remap’ your brows in any way as this could lead to disaster and once you take off too much, you cannot add it back. If you absolutely have no idea of your natural shape, the thumb rule is, the head of your brows should line up with your nostrils. Also determine if your face is oval, round, square, long or heart-shaped to find out what would be a natural looking shape for your high definition brows.
Plucking:
When plucking your eyebrows, stick to rogue hairs in the middle of your brows. Do not pluck the top of your brow or your brow tails and DO NOT take any hairs around your brow shape, only tweeze the strays. Pull your skin so it’s taut before you start tweezing. Take your tweezers and tweeze stray hairs beneath the brow and make sure you’re pulling hair in the direction that it’s growing in. Use a brow pen or pencil to fill in your brows before you pluck so you don’t overdo it.
Trimming:
Once you’re done with the plucking, use a spoolie brush to brush up your brows. Apply gel or brow powder to set unruly brows in place and keep everything nice and symmetrical. Trim any hairs that stick up above the brow line with a small pair of nail scissors. Apply witch hazel to the area that’s especially red or irritated. For an extra punch of healing power, apply a lightweight oil to nourish the skin.
Waxing:
Waxing will help your hair grow back less frequently and you’ll have less unwanted hairs. But we recommend only waxing at home if you are confident of your current shape. Wash your face before diving into your wax kit. Once the wax is hot, apply it in the same direction that your hair grows. It is important to try and stick to your natural brow shape. If you’re a beginner to waxing, stick to hard wax or sugar wax. They are kind to the skin and it’s also easier to clean up if anything goes wrong. If you are using hard wax, apply it in a thicker application.
Fill them in for extra high definition brows:
If you’re using a pencil, use short strokes to mimic the natural look of your brow. Use gel with a brush for volumized brows, which will also help to fill in sparse spots. If your brows are extra thin, use pomade and a slanted or linear brow brush. You can get fancy by using a lighter brow colour at the head and a darker colour at the arch. It’s kind of like contouring for your brows.
