I am always on the lookout for a new product, always reading the latest skin care tips and tricks, news and advice for the perfect daily routine in order to keep my complexion clear. However, as always with the good old internet there can be a lot of conflicting advice out there. So how do you know whether you’re doing enough? Or scary thought… what if you’re doing too much?
Here are a clear complexion few skin care tips and tricks that I have tried and tested along the way.
Don’t rely on face wipes to take off your make up
I think we are all at risk of falling into this category many times throughout our lifetime, they’re just so quick, so convenient and if you’re rolling in from a night out, they’re going to be the first thing you grab. However, these are the devil to your skin (okay perhaps slightly dramatic) but seriously, they may look like they clean your skin – they don’t, they simply smear around all that dirt and make up you’ve had on your face for the last 12 hours which you then transfer to your pillow.
Ever feel like your skin is irritated? Red? Blotchy? I can guarantee this is from using make up wipes. If you’re not on board with the cleansing and toning, then at least buy yourself a bottle of micellar water, some cotton pads and start cleaning your face properly. Your skin will thank you for it.
Don’t apply your foundation straight after your moisturiser
Instead, combine the two. So instead of feeling like your layering your face, combining the two will leave your skin looking all glowy, gorgeous and reviving your skin, exactly the look we are all striving for.
Too many steps are not necessarily a good thing
But how many is too many? Well this all depends on your own skin. If you have dry skin, you will need to put the extra effort in. Oily skin however, don’t pack your skin with too many products you need to let your skin breathe.
Personally, I cleanse and tone religiously every single night and then depending on how my skin is feeling (dependant on weather, time of the month etc) I will then add a Hyaluronic serum followed by my regular eye cream and moisturiser. I exfoliate twice and week and use a face mask once a week. For me those few steps are more than enough to keep on top of my skincare.
Here are a few of my tried, tested and my new favourite products to go along with my clear complexion tips and tricks:
‘The Ordinary Hyaluronic acid’ priced at less than £10. You only need a drop of this to cover your face.
‘Superdrug Vitamin E SPF15 Moisturising Cream’ , thick consistency so perfect for the bedtime routine and smells divine.
My favourite cleanser is the ‘Garnier Natural Rose Cleansing Milk Sensitive Skin‘ and has been for years, takes off my make up and leaves my skin feeling super soft. I always follow up with the toner from the same range.
My ‘can’t live without’ it product is the ‘Garnier Moisture Bomb Pomegranate Hydrating Face Sheet Mask.’ I use this mask once a week and swear by them for keeping my skin hydrated.
