A Mini Guide to Managing Wedding Stress

Wedding Stress

A study found that 96% of brides struggle with wedding stress when planning their big day.

It doesn’t matter if you are naturally laidback, it is likely you will experience some level of stress when planning your big day. With many wedding dresses to choose from, vendors to pay and venues to pick, it can be easy to feel anxious at the prospect of wedding planning.

To take some of the mounting pressure off your shoulders and enjoy the experience, you should read the following tips on how to manage wedding stress.

Distract Your Mind

A recent Zola study found that 96% of brides struggle with stress when planning their wedding, and you could join the statistic without self-care. After all, you’ll have many tasks to juggle and vendors to meet, which can be overwhelming. The same survey also found that the stress of wedding planning can lead to physical problems, such as acne breakouts, headaches and hair loss. Unfortunately, this could cause you to feel self-conscious as you walk down the aisle.

For this reason, you must routinely take a step back from wedding planning to enjoy some well-deserved relaxation. For instance, you should join an exercise class to take a break from your routine and feel confident in your own skin. You also could distract your mind by reading a good book, listening to music, trying to beat the odds on your smartphone, or playing a fun board game with your loved ones, such as Cards Against Humanity or Monopoly. Finding ways to switch off can remove some of the pressure on your shoulders, so you can enjoy the experience, which will be over before you know it.

Be Decisive

Indecisiveness can cause unnecessary anxiety and could turn you into bridezilla. To prevent sleepless nights and non-stop worry, you should aim to be more decisiveness when organising your big day. While you will want to make an informed choice when selecting a venue, you shouldn’t sweat the small stuff, such as table plans, menu options and invitation wording. You also could become more decisive by setting weekly deadlines for important decisions, so you can quickly work your way down your extensive to-do list.

Don’t Overlook a Contingency

It doesn’t matter if you are planning an intimate or large wedding, it is wise to err on the side of caution when setting a budget. To ensure you never enter substantial debt to fund your big day, you should overestimate costs by at least 15%. By doing so, you will have excess money available to pay for unexpected fees, such as additional dress alterations or a bigger venue. Any cash remaining in your bank account once you have said “I do” will be a bonus, and it could even fund a honeymoon or two
