I’m always on the hunt for the perfect hair products. Something that can combat my frizz and give me the ‘just stepped out the salon’ super shine I’ve always wanted.
I was gifted some products from Alterna Haircare. Founded in 1997 it promised a new generation of hair care, offering a line of premium hair products free of additives and harsh ingredients.
Using only natural eco-certified ingredients with no sulfates or parabens and cruelty-free it was already a winner for me. Over the last 20 years, they have continued to improve their range adding more products for every hair type or concern.
Did Alterna haircare products live up to the hype?
I tried the My hair My canvas range, inspired by the notion of self-care and self-kindness the new collection offers a range of refreshing scents with 100% vegan formulas and packaged in bottles made of 50% post-consumer plastic.
The restore rituals collection features three new products to repair hair and improve manageability.
The aesthetics of this range is super pleasing to the eye, super slick and expensive looking I loved how clean and appealing it looked. The bottles are not the largest I’ve used but having now tried the products a little really does go a long way.
I tried the ‘Me time Everyday shampoo’ a gentle moisturizing shampoo promising to enhance shine, add smoothness and improve manageability.
My hair is super thick and curly so I was keen to see whether this would work with my hair type, and I noticed an improvement after just one wash. My hair felt more nourished, clean and hydrated helping also to improve the condition of my dry scalp.
I then tried 2 pumps of the Jelly fix repair booster in with the Everyday conditioner which is a high concentrate vegan jelly booster that helps to repair the hair and prevent breakage whilst maintaining natural smoothness and shine.
This booster is what I think really helped my hair when it came to styling. I left this in with the conditioner for 5 minutes and brushed through whilst wet.
Once dry I noticed how easy my hair was to tame and dry (usually I have lots of knots to get rid of first!) and my hair can feel quite dry after styling. This wasn’t the case this time, my hair felt super smooth and looked healthy and shiny.
Overall, this whole range made a difference to my hair and now after using for a couple of washes I am super impressed with the products. My hair is stronger, sleeker, easier to manage and even helped to repair some of my damaged split ends.
If you’re looking for a natural haircare range to repair your hair, I would highly recommend trying out the Alterna range.
