It’s no secret that brunch is the ultimate pastime of the new mum – after all, when you’re up any time from 5am every day, you’ve already put in a good shift before you even get a decent cup of coffee. So, when we heard that Castle Street Townhouse was blending popular brunch components to create dishes that can be enjoyed for breakfast, dinner or tea, we had to go and try it for ourselves.
So, let’s start with the important stuff; how instagrammable is Liverpool’s Castle Street Townhouse? Well, with the dark green walls, leather upholstery and marble bar, it has all the makings of an early 19th Century members-only club making it a perfect fit for the commercial district. But, seeing as it was the hottest day of the year we decided to sit outside overlooking the Town Hall and take in the hustle and bustle of city life.
The lunch menu lets you choose from ‘light bites’ or a two course option for £13.95 – both offering a good variety of meals. You can go for your standard poached eggs and avocado on toast, (which I obviously did because I’m fully committed to the basic bitch life,) but you could also go for a steak sandwich, pan fried seabass, steak or a vegetarian curry.
Portion-wise, the poached eggs and avocado wasn’t quite enough for two hungry mums who had been up since 6am and hadn’t had a morsel until 2pm – but then I don’t think a full roast dinner would have been enough to curb our hunger by then. To be honest, I wish I’d have gone for the two course option – but you live and learn. We ordered some sides to keep us going and can I just say that I’m always a big fan of places that give you the choice of skinny fries or hand cut chips rather than just choose for you. Both please. Extra salt.
So, if Castle St Townhouse you’re newest brunch stop in Liverpool? Well, if you ad your squad are getting sick of breakfast options and need a change, definitely give the lunch menu at Castle St Townhouse a try, it’ll set you up for the day a bit better than a normal brunch would!
