Review of COSMO World Buffet in Liverpool

In an effort to get my three year old to eat a more varied diet, we headed over to Liverpool at the weekend to try out COSMO’s All You Can Eat World Buffet.

The nearest parking is to the restaurant is Hanover Street so we parked up and walked the three minutes in the sunshine. The outside is just a doorway tucked away on the highstreet so it’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it, but once inside we were greeted by a long marble corridor lined with lanterns that feels a world away from Liverpool.

Atmosphere

Because it was such a nice summers day I was expecting it to be a bit quiet inside but it was actually fairly busy when we arrived with most of the tables full. The décor felt pretty luxe yet modern with atmospheric lighting, blossom trees and wall murals; there was something to catch your eye everywhere we looked, and even robots taking trays and plates! It was also much bigger and more spacious than the outside suggested, with bigger tables for large parties by the buffet and then tables for two tucked away round corners. They played modern upbeat music from the likes of Taylor Swift, Harry Styles and Billie Eilish which my toddler and I enjoyed dancing to! The overall vibe was really chilled out with a good mix of people on dates or with their families.

Drinks

The drinks menu was quite extensive with every type of beer, spirit and cocktail you could want, but I ended up going for a mocktail called Blood Orange Fizz which was fresh lime, orange and grapefruit mixed with blood orange soda. It was so refreshing! I always think you can tell if a restaurant is good at making drinks if they can create a mocktail that tastes both interesting and delicious and COSMO definitely ticked that box for me.

Food

Both myself and my toddler Kobie are really picky eaters but we ended up trying about four different plates worth of food! Kobie had his first spoonful of two different foods – noodles and rice – at the same time which is pretty amazing for him. He had a lot of spaghetti bolognaise, noodles, different types of rice and he asked for four slices of pizza which is a lot of food for a three year old! They even had his favourites – yorkshire puddings!

My favourite was the honey chicken which was absolutely delicious; I’d go back just for that alone! They also did some amazingly juicy garlic prawns at the teppanyaki station which were incredible. There was so much variety I kept missing things and having to go back for another look! They had loads of freshly made sushi, an entire Sunday roast, your regular pizza, chips, chicken nuggets options, then all kinds of Chinese and Indian dishes with plenty that I’d not tried before.

I have a major sweet tooth so the dessert station was where I was really blown away. There were so many different kinds of cakes, an ice cream machine with jelly, and then a huge chocolate fountain with sweets and marshmellows.

Service

Some all you can eat buffets can feel a bit faceless as you’re essentially serving yourself but from the minute we got to COSMO the service was really efficient and friendly. The hostess took us to a table that was tucked away so we didn’t have anyone bumping into the highchair, there was always someone to grab for more drinks and our plates were taken away each time we went back up for another go. There were also no lines or waiting for certain dishes to be topped up and when we left the barman gave us a friendly goodbye which is always nice to receive.

Overall thoughts

I hadn’t really considered an all you can eat buffet before for a family meal out and I don’t know why because it was such a nice, laid back experience! The décor and overall vibe was so nice I wouldn’t actually mind being taken there on a date and I think for a casual meet up with friends it would be perfect as it caters to everyone. I’d definitely recommend giving it a go if you’re not sure what you’re in the mood for.

Score: I ate so much that I have to give it a solid 9/10!
