Finding the perfect foundation can come as a challenge to even the most makeup-savvy of us out there! Brands have most definitely started to allow a more extensive shade range however this is not all I look for when purchasing foundation. For me, I love a full-coverage matte foundation that doesn’t budge throughout the day or on a night out.
When I heard of Dcypher, the new mixed-to-measure makeup brand I was super intrigued to try it! Promising to find you the perfect shade mixed with your skin tone, in the finish and coverage that you desire seems like quite the task.
So how does it work?
Using their unique AI system to build a totally bespoke foundation formula that matches your shade, but has the coverage, moisture level, texture, and finish just the way you like it. Starting each formula from scratch means every foundation that leaves the lab is completely unique and personalised.
I tried their custom foundation, which retails at £28. Opting for a full-coverage foundation, the process was super simple. Taking around 3 photos of my makeup-free skin I made sure I was in daylight (rather than using my ring light) to ensure the match would be what I needed. You then answer a few questions regarding your skin type, desired coverage, and what finish you prefer. What I love most about this process was they sent out a sample pot for me to try (and tweak if needed) before they process the entire bottle. When it arrived I thought it was going to be too light for me, however, once I applied I was AMAZED. Not just at the exact shade match, but also the consistency of the foundation. Often when I opt for full coverage it ends up feeling quite thick and dry on my skin, however, this felt almost like skincare and makeup combined. The coverage is perfect without feeling cakey on the skin and it lasted all day without the need to top it up. The sheerness formula gives me the coverage I require whilst giving me a healthy glow. It’s lightweight and buildable offering you long-lasting coverage. The custom foundation is also Vegan and Cruelty-free.
I am so impressed with this foundation and have already recommended it to a few of my friends who have been on the lookout for a new foundation. Although £28 may feel like a luxurious treat to yourself knowing you will have the exact shade required for your own skin for me is unmatched.
