Liverpool’s Albert Dock just got a whole lot tastier with the arrival of Delhi House Cafe, a family-run restaurant promising an authentic Indian dining experience. Invited to their launch event, we were eager to see if they lived up to the hype. Spoiler alert: they absolutely did!
Delhi House Cafe is all about sharing the true taste of Delhi, from exciting flavour combinations to expertly made delicacies. The launch event featured a set sharing menu, giving us a delightful glimpse into their culinary prowess.
Starters that Dazzled:
The starter selection showcased Delhi House Cafe’s commitment to fresh ingredients and bold flavours. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with authentic Indian spices.
Palak Patta Chaat (V): Crispy, fried spinach leaves coated in a tantalising mix of mint, tamarind, and yogurt. This dish was an absolute standout, with a perfect balance of flavours and textures that left us wanting more.
Tandoori Lamb Chops: Tender lamb chops marinated in gunpowder spice, served with beetroot chutney and a refreshing granny smith slaw. The lamb was cooked to perfection, and the accompanying chutney and slaw added a delightful contrast.
Main Courses that Delivered:
For our main courses, we were treated to a symphony of flavours and aromas that transported us straight to the heart of Delhi.
Pan Seared Lemon Fish: This Indian-style pan-seared fish was a true delight. Aromatic spices and herbs danced on the palate, complemented by a zesty lemon dressing and herbed basmati rice.
Mom’s Buttered Chicken Tikka Masala: Smoky, tangy, and with just the right amount of sweetness and spice, this dish was a comforting classic done exceptionally well. The tandoori chicken thigh tikka was succulent, and the rich, creamy sauce was perfect for mopping up with the accompanying butter naan.
More than just Delicious Food:
Beyond the incredible food, Delhi House Cafe offers a chic and moody ambiance, perfect for a relaxed yet sophisticated dining experience. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fun facts about Indian cuisine and explaining how to decipher the menu based on the meaning of certain words. This added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meal.

Delhi House Cafe is an absolute must-try in Liverpool. With its authentic flavours, inviting atmosphere, and knowledgeable staff, it’s a true hidden gem on the Albert Dock. We’re already planning our return trip to explore more of their exciting menu!
