El Pecado Liverpool Review, Bold Streets new Tapas

El Pecado Liverpool, a new tapas bar & restaurant has been launched in in the city by some of the most respected chefs, wine and hospitality experts in town.

We were Invited down for a complimentary meal for two to enjoy and review everything the menu has to offer. Upon arrival we were greeted by the most welcoming and bright atmosphere and staff. The newly revamped venue brings a little bit of Spain to Liverpool.

After reviewing the menus our waitress advised that 3 plates each is usually enough, but the menu sounded so good we ended up ordering 8 plates between us – not realised how much food would actually come out to the table!

El Pecado Liverpool: Vegetable & Starter Options:

To start with we chose the Sourdough brad with roast garlic aioli and olives from the Bread and snacks section and from the Vege section we tried the crisp fried potatoes in bravas sauce and smoked paprika. The crisp fried potatoes were amazing!

Fish Options:

From the fish section we ordered the crispy fried squid with roast garlic aioli with lemon and the large prawns fried in panko with roast shellfish emulsion. Both were really tasty, but the fried squid were my fav!

Meat Options:

So many amazing options to choose from! We opted for 4 of the meat dishes cos they all sounded so tasty!

The baby chorizo cooked in Basque style cider with roasted fennel seed. Slow roasted pork belly with chorizo picante and chickpea caldot. Slow cooked crisp spiced lamb shoulder with baby gnoush, pomegranate syrup and pitta bread. Pork and beef meatballs with roast squash puree and almond migas.

El Pecado meaning ‘sin’ is on Bold Street in Liverpool and everybody enjoys a sin or two when it comes to eating out as acclaimed restaurant manager Jay Bennett, a familiar face around the city scene explained.

“We believe food & drink shared with friends should be fun and enjoyed to the full. We’re already proving popular with couples along with families from breakfast time and throughout the day.

Although our food & drink menu can be described as ‘classic contemporary’, it’s very much ‘down to earth and accessible’ as one of our guests described it. There’s something for everyone. The vibe here is also very laid back with no minimum spend and we’re finding from early feedback that customerswant to stay for a good while, enjoying a sin or two as part of the experience.”

That was backed up by Head Chef Michael Hugh Dawson who worked for a very successful food business in London as part of his training before returning home.

He said: “I love cooking. My grandma was an employer and my dad employed in the food industry for a generation and it feels great to be carrying on a family tradition.”

Favourites so far include the Quail egg and sweet pepper tart, Roast chicken thigh, spiced tomato and pepper Sufrito plus the Spiced aubergine, plum tomato & rocket Bocadilla dishes and Crisp fried Calamari, roast garlic aioli with fresh lemon. A vegan menu is also available.

El Pecado’s relaxing bar offering unique cocktails and expertly selected wines is being overseen by talented wine merchant Sean Miller, known throughout the city for his 30+ years running bar/restaurants.

Complementing the team, Consultant chef Steve McCabe, with almost 35+ year’s of industry experience says El Pecado came to light from a lot of like-minded people.
