Vitamin C skincare; it’s one of the most googled skin saviours of all time… but why? Let’s take a look at the importance of vitamin C if you’re looking for brighter, smoother, softer, and all-around healthier skin.
What is Vitamin C?
Vitamin C; you’ll know it from being told to eat your oranges as a child, but it’s also the most thoroughly researched antioxidant on the market – and, as we know, antioxidants fight oxidative damage both inside our bodies and on the surface of the skin. So, whether you’re ingesting vitamin C, or using it externally, it’s going to help!
When used externally, Vitamin C is thought to even out skin tone whilst tacking pigmentation to help brighten the complexion. It also reduces the rate of collagen loss which can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles – so girls and boys if you’re in your 30’s, get some Vitamin C into your skincare routine immediately!
When should you use Vitamin C?
Ideally, we’d recommend using Vitmain C externally every single day – but it depends on what other skincare ingredients you’re also using.
Ingredients you should never mix with Vitamin C skincare include:
- Vitamin C + Benzoyl peroxide.
- Vitamin C + Retinol.
- Vitamin C + AHAs/BHAs.
- Vitamin C + Niacinamide.
How should I use Vitamin C in my skincare routine?
How you use Vitmain C will depend on your skin type, and the other products in your skincare routine. For example, if you regularly use retinol, niacinamide, or any of the other ingrediants listed above you may want to look at ingestible options to avoid any unpleasant reactions on the surface of your skin.
