Ever apply your make up first thing in the morning like an absolute pro and then glance at your reflection at 3pm and look like you’ve been chewed up and spat out? I’m with you.
I am forever on the lookout for quick skincare tips and tricks and easy beauty hacks to keep my make up looking like I’ve only just applied it.
Here are my top tips and ultimate beauty hacks for keeping your make up as fresh as the morning’s application.
Don’t skip on your primer
A lot of people skip this part, but preparation is key to long lasting make up. You don’t have to use a super expensive primer, my favourite Nivea men’s shaving balm costs less than £5. Smooth this on before your foundation and I promise you your 3pm face will thank you.
Set your face with powder
If you’re prone to oily or shiny skin no matter which foundation you use adding a setting powder into your make up routine is key. Dusting under the eyes, t-zone and around the mouth will keep any oil under control and combat the dreaded make up melt.
My favourite? Revolution banana powder lasts forever and costs less than £5.
Soap your brows
If like me, you are a lover of a bushy full brow I swear if you give this super cheap hack a go you will be converted.
All you need is soap, water and a spoolie.
This tried and tested method can shape, set and add fullness to all types of eyebrows. Use a clear block of soap, combine with water and run the spoolie over the surface of the wet soap until you build a foamy texture and then brush brows upwards and watch them transform into the fluffy brow of dreams.
Plumper pout
If you’re not looking to fill your lips with collagen but still love the idea of a plump pout, then make sure you are lining your lips. Lining just above and below your lips and smudging inwards before applying lipstick will give the illusion, they are bigger than they are. Top with a hint of gloss in the middle you will have that kissable pout we all strive for.
Revive false lashes
I am a lover of a false lash, but after a few wears and added mascara they can look a little worse for wear.
But don’t make the mistake of throwing them away before you give this a go.
Fill a small bowl with some micellar water and leave your lashes to soak for 10 minutes, this will wash away all traces of mascara, glue and any thing else you’ve managed to pick up!
Allow them to dry off on some kitchen roll and then comb through with an old but clean mascara wand.
Voila, they’re ready for another night on the town.
