HONOR 20 Pro Review: Capturing moments that matter

HONOR 20 PRO

Blogging has continued to grow in popularity over the years and there are no signs of this slowing down, however, with the rise of photography based social media bloggers and influencers, it got me thinking – can you actually capture quality photography using just a smartphone?

Before deciding what smartphone to test this on, I researched devices with the best cameras as this is the most important feature for any blogger or influencer. With the HONOR 20 Pro, I decided to put this theory to the test.

HONOR kindly gifted us a phone to use for the purpose of this review, but all thoughts and opinions are my own (as always).

Testing the camera capabilities:

While researching the 20 Pro, the main thing people are raving about is the camera. Featuring a fantastic four-camera array, 48mp standard camera, a fun 16mp ultra-wide angle camera and added optical image stabilisation – this smartphone seems like it’s made for photography.

I tested the camera out in three scenarios, the first test was at a press event where I was asked to go along and review a new food menu, capture imagery of the food for Instagram promotion. The camera captured fantastic quality pictures of the food and performed really well indoors with less than optimal lighting.

For the second test, I wanted to capture something outdoors so I decided to take the phone with me on a wild camping trip in Snowdonia. This was the most important test for me as i’m always outdoors and the perfect shot for Insta is always a challenge! We set up camp halfway up a mountain for the views and managed to get two epic shots with this camera phone. One at night of the tent lit up and one in the morning from inside the tent of sunrise – both beautiful captures.

And for the final test, I wanted to see how the HONOR 20 Pro handled product photography, because as a blogger, this is probably the most important thing you need for stepping your game up on those reviews. Again, a lot of my product reviews are outdoors based, so I thought why not take the shoot outside and see how the camera handles natural (yet challenging) lighting. The end result speaks for itself.

Design & other features:

On first glance, the design of the HONOR 20 Pro is beautifully vibrant, with a metallic blue back. Like most smartphones it features three buttons at the side and is really simple to use. It has a long battery life and whilst this phone is relatively cheap to buy, it is on par with more expensive models on the market.

Height: 154.60 mm

Width: 73.97 mm

Depth: 8.44 mm

Weight: Approximately 182g (including battery)

Overall I would highly recommend the HONOR Pro 20 as the ultimate tool for blogging, it has everything you need to capture quality photography to share instantly, in a sleek and beautiful device.
