Because of course, this is what we all want?
Who doesn’t want super soft skin?
As much as genetics does of course play a part there are things you can do to keep you skin as soft as possible, so here are some tips on how to get smooth skin.
Exfoliate
You will never get smooth skin if you don’t start with a good foundation. To get this exfoliating is key, however do not fall into the trap of over exfoliating. Once or twice a week is enough. A good exfoliator should leave your skin glowing and super soft. Getting into an exfoliation routine is important to remove dead skin cells and avoid blocked pores. A couple of weeks of this you will soon see a huge difference in your skin.
Protect your skin
SPF should be your best friend. Protected skin will ultimately always keep your skin softer for longer. If you are not already adding an SPF to your daily routine make it your mission to add in this week.
Moisturize
Sounds an obvious one, but do you do it enough? And do you moisturize your whole body or just your face? Do you remember your feet, your knees, your elbows? To keep your skin hydrated and smooth moisturizing is key. Remember to swap your skincare to the season too, in the winter months you need to make sure you have adapted your skincare to the change in the weather. Moisturizing helps to replenish your skin barrier and keep it soft and smooth. Don’t be afraid to add an oil into your skincare regime for the ultimate baby soft skin.
Diet
Urgh, who wants to see that word? But unfortunately, it really does help. The healthier you eat the better your skin will not only look but feel as well. Processed foods can lead to an imbalance in your gut which can sometimes manifest in your skin.
Drink water
Another best friend of mine. And this one is so important! Drinking up to 2 litres of water a day will not only improve your skin but keep you hydrated and plump out those skin cells.
I also drink 1000mg of Vitamin C in my first glass of water every morning.
Cleanse your skin
As I always say bin those make up wipes and start your skincare routine NOW! Get into a routine of cleansing and toning to keep your skin radiant, luminous and smooth. Take note of your skin type and trial products carefully. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking the more expensive the better because that is not always the case. Nail down a consistent cleansing routine and you will soon see results.
If you try all of the above and you still have no luck consult a professional
Ultimately there are so many things that can cause rough or dry skin so if you’re unsure of your skin concerns I would always book in for an appointment with a professional. Sometimes it helps to talk through any skin concerns and see what treatments would best suit you.
