What are the benefits of selling on Vinted?

Unlike other selling apps such as eBay and Depop, Vinted puts the fees onto the buyer so it’s the best option for selling your unwanted items. What are the best selling items on Vinted UK?

Generally clothing and footwear sell the best on Vinted, this is because it was originally how the app started, and although you can now sell other items from around the home, clothing is still the best selling in the UK.

Branded clothing and footwear always get snapped up, anything from designer tshirts to high end footwear. Brands that are the most popular on Vinted includ Dr Martins, Guess, The North Face, Gymshark, Moncler, Hugo Boss and Ted Baker.

If you want to update your wardrobe for the new season, Vinted is a great way to this without spending a single penny! However, you might be wondering how to sell on Vinted? How to sell on Vinted

If your want to be really savvy, you can even purchase used items from other Vinted sellers to keep costs low, all while doing your part for sustainability. Another option, is to allow for swaps on your listing, this means that people can offer to swap one of their own items for yours.

Tips for selling on Vinted

The most important thing to master when selling onVinted, is the pictures! It’s what draws in the buyer. Keep your pictures clear, as high res as posible and make use of lighting, use a clear background and open the curtains or blinds to provide natural light. Make sure you take enough pictures of the item so people can see what they are buying, showcase things like pockets, labels, zips and any defects clearly.

The next thing is optimising your listing so it has the best chance of being found. Include as much detail as possible in the description, and make your title as descriptive as you can. For example, if you are selling an old coat or jacket, your title might be ‘womens Zara tailored black jacket size 10’.

Choosing the best delivery option on Vinted

If you’re just starting out, make sure you check your settings and choose the best delivery options before listing your items for sale. If you prefer to print at home, package and drop off at a local shop or post office, then Evri and Royal Mail are good options. If like me, you don’t have a printer and prefer to print in store, then you’ll want to go with Yodel or InPost as they both have the option to do this.

To set your delivery preferences, simply go to ‘settings’ within the app, then ‘postage’ to view the options available, then tick all of the ones you wish to offer. My prefered delivery method is InPost, as there is no label needed at all and you can simply scan your QR code and put straight into a locker. This is super convenient as most lockers are outside the store, so you aren’t restricted to opening hours – great for anyone who has a busy schedule.

What does bumped mean on vinted?

The bumped feature is a way of promoting your items to the top of the search feed, this is great if you are looking for a quick sale. You can choose to bump one item or your whole wardrobe, simply select the option in the app and this will increase your visiblity. I have not needed to use this feature yet, so if you are just starting out then hold off and see how your items perform without it first.

Be careful of scammers

With most selling apps, scammers use this as a way to sell fake goods or scam people out of sales. I haven’t experienced this myself, but I’ve seen comments reported in forums and on social media. Here are a few ways to spot scammers on Vinted:

  1. Always check the buyers profile
  2. Avoid buying from zero feedback sellers, who only list a few expensive items for sale
  3. Never take the sale outside of the Vinted app, if the buyer / seller wants to communicate via email then this is a red flag

Vinted have a whole section on the website dedicated to spotting scammers, this is worth a read if you are thinking about selling on the app.
