Liverpool Restaurants: CAN Waterloo, Vegan Cafe

CAN Waterloo

Today was finally the day that I managed to get in and try some food at CAN Café Waterloo, one of Liverpool’s best Vegan food places. Based just 10 minutes’ walk from Crosby Beach, CAN Waterloo by their own definition is a 100% plastic free Vegan Can bar serving Vegan favourites. The imagination of owners Lou and Ryan sees no boundaries with an ever changing menu. Today was the day of Global Scouse Day.

Global Scouse Day

Global Scouse Day is a day which began paying tribute to the famous Scouse Dish, originating as a primarily meat based stew. This tradition has now evolved and offers Vegetarian and even Vegan alternatives. The day was started by Liverpudlian Adventurer, who used to celebrate his birthday with a “Scouse Supper”. When he left the country it was continued by Laura Worthington from Laura’s Little Bakery. Bars in Liverpool are now celebrating the day routinely with events and evenings based around the famous Liverpool Dish.

CAN’s Vegan Scouse

For me as a non-Vegetarian/ Vegan, I was absolutely sceptical about whether the concept of Vegan Scouse would work. I can honestly say based on my first-hand experience today, I am a believer. Served with two pieces of lovely bread, delish!

CAN Events & Evenings

CAN Waterloo also deliver evenings based around numerous topics. From Kimchi Korean Nights, Burns Night Suppers to a good Old Quiz Night. As I said earlier, their imagination is refreshing. As we go into February and March, they have another Korean Kimchi Evening planned and tomorrow they have a Creole Food and Speakeasy Evening. An evening based around Creole Cuisine and old Fashioned Cocktails.

Great work Guys!
