Magnesium has huge benefits for your skin, so if you’re looking to switch up your body cream, it’s time to think about this little miracle ingredient.
There is no better time than these winter months when your skin can be feeling particularly dry with an uneven skin tone.
I’m a big believer in mixing up my body lotions and creams, of course I have my favourites that I do go back to, but I love trying different creams and lotions and trialling whether they achieve all that they promise.
The latest products I have been trialling have been the Magnesium Skin body butter and body lotion.
But first, what’s the difference between a butter and a lotion?
They key difference is usually the ingredients with body butter containing Shea butter (of course!) and various oils like coconut or jojoba. Whereas a lotion is usually much thinner in consistency as it contains much more water and fewer oils.
What’s best for you?
Well that really depends on your own skin, if your skin is sensitive and prone to breakouts, I personally would avoid body butters as this can clog up your pores. However, if your skin is drier and more dehydrated a body butter is a godsend.
Here’s what I thought of the two products I received.
Magnesium Body Butter
Containing yes you guessed it Shea butter alongside cocoa butter, coconut oil and vitamin E this body butter felt very indulgent on my skin and left my skin feeling moisturised after just one use.
As my skin can be more on the dry side, I was automatically drawn to the body butter first which although suitable for all skin types you do benefit more from this one if you suffer with drier skin. My skin felt nourished, supple and the butter absorbed easily into the skin without the need to rub too much.
Magnesium Body Lotion
A completely different consistency the body lotion still moisturises and hydrates the skin, yet the formulation is much lighter, so perfect to use as a daily lotion after a morning shower.
Magnesium benefits for skin
Both of the products contain Magnesium, not really something I have ever used before, but I was pleasantly surprised after doing some research as to how powerful this mineral can be. Not only does magnesium help support calcium absorption it also helps improve rest and recovery.
So, if you’re a gym goer or you suffer from leg fatigue this may be one to try.
It has also has been proved to help aid sleep and quieten the mind, I can’t guarantee this myself, but one thing’s for sure both products left my skin moisturised, hydrated with a healthy glow.
And who doesn’t want that?
