Whether you are a makeup artist or just a beginner finding the right makeup brushes to start off your kit can feel very confusing. A lot of the time a good quality brush set can come with a hefty price tag, which if you’re new to makeup can seem daunting. However, as I have said before using the right tools should be seen as an investment. You can spend all the money you want on products yet if you’re using the wrong tools this will affect your overall look.
I was luckily gifted the Luxe Professional Beauty and Makeup Brush set from Oscar Charles Beauty and when I tell you not only is this set incredible it’s also less than £45 for 15 pieces!! And not only that, but you also receive a luxury beauty blender and a brush cleaner, all beautifully presented in a stylish and portable brush case. Ideal if you are a makeup artist on the go or if you just like to keep your dressing table clean and tidy!
Developed in the UK the brush collection is Vegan friendly, cruelty free and are made from hypoallergenic fibres that are suitable for even the most sensitive on skin. The brushes themselves are super soft, they feel silky on the skin and apply makeup like a dream. Not only do they look really high end, they feel such good quality.
So what do you get in the kit?
Did I mention there are 15 brushes included in this kit! Every brush you could possibly need is included within this set. For the face there are 6 brushes and for the eyes, lips and brows there are the remaining 9.
I instantly reached for the C104 Kabuki buff brush, this is my favourite style of brush to apply foundation. With its large and flat base its super easy to buff foundation into your skin for a full coverage look without any streaks or tell tale lines. What I loved most about this brush was it didn’t soak in the foundation like some brushes do. Application was super easy and felt so soft on my skin.
I then used the beauty blender that also comes with the set to push any remaining foundation into the skin, this just helps to give the airbrushed look we all strive for. I have tried many beauty blenders before and this one did not fail to impress. The sponge also has the curved side which makes it easy to apply and the pointed section to help reach the creases of your nose and under the eyes. I also used the blender to apply concealer, but if you prefer a brush the C106 is the perfect size to apply around the eyes to conceal any imperfections.
I then used the C102 to apply my setting powder, this brush is also the perfect size to apply any powders or highlight.
For bronzing the large super soft C101 powder brush is ideal to sweep bronzer across the face without product clinging to the hairs. This brush makes it super easy to blend and buff your makeup and I think this is down to how silky soft these brushes are.
If you’re a lover of a blush (I mean who isn’t?) the C103 angled blush brush is perfect, the slanted shape helps to achieve a sculpted look to the face and can be used with both a cream or powder blush.
For the eyes there are 7 brushes to choose from, so whichever look you’re going for this set will have every brush you need. Having tried lots of different brands and brushes I do always feel that eye brushes are the hardest to find as it isn’t a case of one brush can do everything, you do need at least 4 or 5 brushes to complete a flawless eye look.
This set includes everything you need, a small blending brush to apply the product into the crease, a large blending brush to ensure the product is then blended out correctly, an angled eye shadow brush which is perfect for contouring and using for the corners of your eyes, plus different sized shadow brushes and a detail brush to help apply liquid eyeliners. So, whether you’re buffing and blending or packing on the product there are brushes for every look.
One of my favourite aspects of this entire kit is the packaging, it feels and looks really high end and would be a perfect gift for the makeup lover in your life. I also love the fact you receive a brush cleaner, for me as a freelance makeup artist this is ideal to have for on the go. Keeping your brushes clean is not only sanitary it also helps to promote the life of your brushes ensuring you don’t have to replace them too often!
My overall thoughts are this kit is by far one of the most luxurious sets I have ever used and not just that every brush is needed within the kit and helps to apply your makeup beautifully, the team at Oscar Charles Beauty have truly thought of everything.
