I am not a lover of a January resolutions. I think there is more than enough pressure going into this month without adding a whole list of other things to stress yourself out about.
However, I do see January as a month to get myself into good habits.
So, if you’re not looking to run 5k each morning why not try working on some skincare resolutions for 2021 instead?
Clear out your cupboards
This one is key. You need to start knowing exactly what you have, what you may need and what is way out of date.
Check through all your products and see how much longer you can use them for, each product will have a number on the bottom (12M) telling you how many months you have before it expires. Regardless of this, you can usually tell by the smell and the texture, if you are unsure my advice would be to get rid and start a fresh.
Buy an SPF and actually use it
We all need an SPF in our skincare routine, and we need to be ensuring we use it every day. Not only does SPF protect you against harmful rays but it also helps to keep wrinkles, dark circles and pigmentation at bay.
Look out for a day cream with added SPF to ensure you are covered even on those days you may not be out in the sunshine.
Editor’s pick: Bioderma Pigmentbio Brightening Face Cream SPF50+: Fuelled by an innovative blend, this SPF50+ formula shields the complexion from the sun, and works to combat uneven skin tone, dark spots and age spots. The pearly texture gives an instant glow, and is quickly absorbed by the skin to provide rapid hydration, and the formula helps to regulate the skin’s production of melanin which can cause irregularity in skin tone, forming dark patches and imperfections.
Drink your water
If there is one resolution that I always try to stick too, it’s my water intake.
Water is one of the most important skincare habits to get yourself into, ensuring you are drinking at least 2L of water every day. This will help towards that flawless skin we all strive for.
If you’re not a fan of plain water, add some sugar free juice to it, I definitely do this when I am struggling.
You can spend all the money you want on super expensive skincare products but if you’re not nourishing your skin from the inside you won’t see the results on the outside.
Never go to sleep with your makeup on
Okay, so we can all be guilty of this after a night out. But getting out of this habit is super important. So, no matter how tired you are or whoever you are waking up next too – DO NOT sleep with your makeup on.
You know you will regret it the next day when your skin is suffering.
Use a cleansing balm/oil
Throw those wipes away, there really is no excuse anymore to be using face wipes to remove your makeup. Not only are they not good for the environment, but they are also terrible for your skin. They don’t actually clean your skin, they simply move the dirt, oil and grime around your face. Invest in a good make up cleansing balm, I swear to you once you start using one of these you will wonder how you used anything else previously.
Let me know in the comments what habits you will be looking to get into this January!
