If there is ever the right time to rock a red lipstick December is THAT time. A red lipstick is a key staple in every make up kit, but if you’re unsure where to start just remember, when it comes to make up don’t worry about what anyone else is doing, you do you! That being said, always consider my number one rule. Opt for the correct shade to suit your skin undertone. Not sure what yours is? Check your veins. I know, sounds crazy right? But it works. If your veins are greenish you will have usually have warm undertones, whereas those with blue or purple look will more often have cooler undertones.
When it comes to red lipsticks, the general rule being the lighter your skin (cooler undertone) the lighter shade of red you should be opting for. however, if that all sounds like too much work, don’t worry I have compiled a list of the best red lipstick shades that suit all skin tones for you to try this December.
The best red lipstick: MAC- Ruby Woo
By far my favourite red lipstick and loved by millions worldwide, this high impact red lipstick really does suit most skin tones so has always been my recommended lipstick.
If you’re unsure whether you will use this lipstick that much, opt for the smaller size from MAC, that way you’re not wasting your money on a lipstick you’re saving for nights out.
Charlotte Tilbury – Red Carpet Red
Long lasting and super pigmented this lipstick is a true classic. I love how this lipstick dries matte without leaving your lips feeling dry.
Fenty Beauty – Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored
Promising staying power of up to 12 hours this lipstick dries to a soft matte which looks amazing on most skin tones. Always use a lip liner with this lipstick as it can bleed, wearing with a liner will keep your lipstick exactly where it should be – on the lips!
Maybelline Colour Sensational – Red for me
If you’re new to a red lip or working on a budget then this shade is ideal, both the formula and pigmentation is great for such a budget friendly lipstick. Maybelline is such a good brand that I wouldn’t expect anything less!
Toofaced Melted Matte Liquid Lip – Hot Stuff
By far one of my favourite new lipsticks I have tried out this last month. A stunning bright red, this dries to a matte finish and does not budge. And when I say it doesn’t budge, I mean it truly stays on all day. Liquid lipsticks can sometimes leave your lips feeling dry, this one however left the moisture in my lips even after a couple of hours.
