Throwing a Summer Garden Party: Pop-Up Paradise style

summer garden party

As I’m sure you’re well aware: It’s August. So, what does this mean? It means you’ve got a month and a half of summer before autumn and his horrible pal winter start darkening your doorstep and you better believe you need to make the most of the weather and throw a summer garden party before that happens!

We’re going to suggest you throw yourself a good old garden party, but not just any garden party – a pop-up party! The kind of soiree you throw that involves minimum effort but looks spectacular. We recommend sticking with the paradise theme, so picture yourself stranded on a dessert island with nothing but blow-up palm trees, a crate full of plenty ale and a well-stocked BBQ and you’ll be halfway there!

If you’re looking for more practical tips for throwing your pop-up party then you’re in the right place, because we have four tips that will help you get the party started!

Throwing a pop-up summer garden party

We mentioned blow-up palm trees to keep you feeling like you’re in an island paradise all in your own back garden – why stop there? Inflatable parrots and flamingos would certainly help set the scene, but if you’re thinking big (and let’s face it, of course you are) you could opt for an inflatable hot tub. An inflatable hot tub would be the perfect crowd pleaser to your party, just make sure you remember to tell everyone to pack their bathing suits and a towel!

Don’t let it rain on your parade

If this summer (and every summer in our British existence) has taught us anything: it’s that the weather can be totally unpredictable. So, to help combat the unruly English weather, we recommend a back-up plan to keep everyone in the garden if it does start to pour down. A pop-up Gazebo is the perfect solution for your summer garden party to keep your guests outdoors and keep in-theme with your pop-up paradise.

Set the vibe for your summer garden party

You’re on a desert island right, so what you need to do is set the tone so your guests feel immersed. Play some cool island rhythms on the speakers, serve your drinks in coconuts where possible and give everyone a lei as soon as they enter a door. Nothing says island sophisticated like a garland made of flowers and some hula dancing.

Keep it light and breezy, though, handing everyone a machete and throwing a LOST style party is a sure-fire way to a bad party. Or a great one, who knows. All we know is, we most certainly don’t endorse it.

Put on a pacific feast

All legendary garden parties achieve their status by a second-to-none selection of foods. Or, at least they do for me. Try to find some Hawaiian themed recipes to cook for your guests that best keep with your theme. Nothing too fancy, though. It’s worth remembering that it’s a party so most of your guests will be drunk anyway.

If you’re struggling to think of any Hawaiian twists, just accompany regular BBQ foods with pineapple. Those guys will put pineapple on anything.

We hope this guide has been of use to you when it comes to inspiration for throwing your very own pop-up party. Remember, you don’t have to just stick with the paradise theme, you can choose whatever setting you want – just make sure it’s easy to set up and take down.
