I know screen time is a source of a lot of worry for parents- are they allowing too much, should they have tablets and ipads? Parenting is a minefield and we are often consumed by guilt. The Tonies box at least takes away one stress, it provides hours of entertainment for little ones. Completely screen-free but with all their favourite characters. So what is a Tonies box?
Tonies is a musical story box that will provide hours of fun through songs and stories for children aged 3-10. It was designed by parents who wanted something that little ones could control all on their own. It is really easy to use, my two year old has no problems, they just add the tonie they want to listen to, and away they go!
Children can simply add their character of choice to the box and the audio will start playing. The tonie characters are magnetic so they won’t fall off if carried. The ears can be squeezed to change the volume. They can skip through the chapters by banging either side.
This magical little box is the perfect companion for so many situations. From bedtime stories, mindfulness and meditation to kitchen dance parties and long journeys.
There are so many tonie figurines to choose from. All of their favourite characters: disney, peppa pig, paw patrol, super wings, Minions and so many more. They have fantastic classic story and song collections and even great characters for older ones including Julia Donaldson and horrible histories.
Creative Tonies collection
Each starter set comes with a creative tonie. They can be personalised via the app and they can either record their own content – stories or songs. You can record bedtimes messages and parents/family members can record stories. They are a great addition.
The tonies app has an audio library full of free songs and stories that can be added to the creative tonie, for free! There is a range of characters within the creative tonie collection including pirates, fairies and superheroes as well as job roles: doctor, builder, police.
This almost indestructible box is definitely toddler proof! It’s still super soft and my daughters love to snuggle up in bed with it. It has a headphone jack so it’s ideal for a bit of quiet time. I know sometimes we all need a chance to finish a drink whilst it’s still hot and do the 10 thousand other things we have to do as mums!
Tonies have a range of different coloured headphones for a reasonable price. It is the perfect travel buddy and has come on many car rides with us! It has a massive 7 hours of battery life from a full charge so its great for long journeys. It has its own charging station that means it can still be used whilst its charging, it just sits on top.
The reason I love the Tonies box is because it is screen-free. Living in such a digital, tech-savvy age means we are constantly worrying about the effects of TVs and tablets. This is the perfect tool to bring back imaginative play. It allows children to explore these stories and adventures using their own minds. Such an important tool to provide to our little humans. Not only does it provide a lot of fun, it also has many educational benefits for toddlers and for so many years to follow. Another thing I love is that it practically grows with your little ones. As they get older you can filter out and collect tonie characters within their age range. Which I think is great value for money!
