Food on the go can be convenient for those with a busy lifestyle, and just because you are vegan doesn’t mean you have to miss out!

With so many food chains and fast food restaurants starting to get with the times and step up their menu to be more inclusive for non-meat eaters, now is actually a great time to be Vegan or make the switch!

Greggs has just announced that they are adding to their menu with the release of its Vegan Sausage Bean and Cheese Melt set to launch in August and I am here for it, this is the one fast food item I’ve missed! But while we wait, here are 9 of the best vegan fast food options on the high street that are already available.

From Spicy Veggie Burgers to Beyond Meat alternatives, if you are looking for food on the go that is suitable for vegans we’ve got you covered!

McDonald’s upped their vegan game back at the beginning of 2021 with the introduction of Veggie Dippers to the menu – their first-ever fully vegan meal!

The Veggie Dippers resemble the iconic chicken selects but are instead made from red pepper, rice sundried tomatoes and split peas making them perfect for those that are eating plant-based.

So next time you find yourself on the high street looking for food why not grab some?

Papa John’s Vegan Stuffed Crust Pizza

Papa John’s were one of the first pizza restaurants to introduce a fully vegan pizza option to the menu, and it seems that the fast-food favourite has taken it a step further with a new vegan stuffed-crust pizza.

Launched back in Veganuary this year, the pizza joins a whole array of vegan options on the menu including ‘ Not Chicken’ Bites, Marmite Cheese Scrolls and a Jack Fruit Pepperoni Pizza.

Starbucks Beyond Meat Breakfast Sandwich

The Starbucks Beyond Meat breakfast sandwich is absolutely outstanding, consisting of a tasty pea protein patty, topped with tomato relish and turmeric infused tofu (egg alternative) and vegan cheese made with coconut.

Pair this with a coconut or almond milk iced frappuccino for a morning pick me up like no other. The ultimate hangover cure.

Subway’s T.L.C (Tastes Like Chicken)

Subway also expanded their Vegan range this year with a new sandwich titled the T.L.C (Tastes Like Chicken).

The plant-based sub is made with bespoke chicken like pieces and Violife Vegan Cheese. So next time you find yourself craving a sandwich from the popular chain, why not indulge in their new vegan option?

Burger King ‘Vegan Royale’ & ‘Plant-Based Whopper’

For those that are a lover of burgers, fear not – Burger King will satisfy those cravings! Launched in just April this year, the burger joint is now home to the Vegan Royale and Plant-Based Whopper – perfect for non-meat eaters.

The fake chicken sandwich has a crispy coated fillet that looks almost as good as real chicken and is finished with iceberg lettuce and creamy vegan mayo. And the plant-based whopper is so mouth watering you’d think it was beef! Both are equally as good, so these rank together.

Greggs Vegan Steak Bake

Greggs might be launching its new Vegan Bean and Cheese Melt in August but that doesn’t mean you have to wait until then to satisfy your stomach.

Having landed in stores back in January 2020, the chain’s new vegan option proved a hit and was sold out everywhere almost instantly, with fans claiming they couldn’t taste the difference.

So if you are excited for the launch of its new product, grab a steak bake while you wait.

Pizza Hut ‘Pepperphoni’

Another Pizza restaurant that jumped at the chance to expand its vegan options was Pizza Hut during Veganuary 2020.

The restaurant introduced their all-new ‘Pepperphoni Pizza’, topped with plant-based look-a-like pepperoni slices and Violife Cheese, making it a great option for those that are eating plant-based.

Wagamama Vegan Katsu Curry

Wagamama is well known for its famous Chicken Katsu curry that almost every person who loves the restaurant has tried. But what about if you are vegan?

Back in 2018, the restaurant wanted to expand its catering options for vegans by introducing a vegan version of their much-loved curry. Made from Seitan instead of chicken, the restaurant hoped that the dish wouldn’t just cater for vegans but those that are curious about eating plant-based.

KFC Original Vegan Burger

KFC also followed fast-food giants this year by launching its Zero Chicken original recipe vegan burger that has managed to sell a whopping 1 million burgers since its launch on the 2nd January.

The fillet is made from a vegan Quorn Chicken fillet and delighted fans up and down the country. So next time you are craving a burger from KFC get your hands on their all-vegan classic.
